About Ted’s Tarot

The idea for Ted’s Tarot arose when when its creators, Glyn and Jennifer Williams, were discussing Tarot together and looking at the way certain figures in the images were posed, in ways that expressed their emotions in the circumstances where they found themselves. Ted, one of their companion bears, offered his services, and they soon realised that a simple pose of a furry toy could express complex human feelings in a way that, in the depiction of a human figure, would require a great deal of subtlety and artistry. It also occurred to us that the little golden figure could represent any person, regardless of gender, skin colour, or body shape, avoiding stereotypical images which may appear in traditional tarot decks, and so making the interpretation more relevant to whoever is using the cards.

Glyn and Jennifer designed Ted’s Tarot together, based on their extensive insight into tarot and related areas of esoteric study. Jennifer drew all the original pictures by hand, using coloured pencils. Glyn prepared the images for printing, adding a few computer enhancements.

Sadly, Jennifer passed through the veil a few years ago. The completed deck of cards is published as a tribute to her memory.

Details of the imagery used in the cards will be found in the pages of this website. However, at present, only some of the cards are included here. Writing a complete description of all the cards is an ongoing project, and will take some time. You can follow progress here.
